Kids crack me up!

Sometimes when life is kicking you in the teeth, a child will come along and put everything in perspective for you.  I have had this experience many, many times and it always amazes me how honestly hillarious kids can be!
I was watching a lil one, who's nickname is Chuck (short for Charlize).  It was one of those days where the laundry was piled high, dog hair was all over the floor, and I had no clue what I was going to make for dinner.  I was stressed and I guess it showed because "Chuck" kept trying to come up with random things in order to distract me.  I decided that the house and the laundry didn't matter, I was going to take a break and spend sometime with my lil pal.
We decided to go to our local ice cream store. She picked out her kind, and I went for the chocolate filled with all kinds of yumminess and I couldn't wait to dive in!  I paid for it and we went outside to have a seat.  She dives into her ice cream cone with such sheer glee that usually only kids can get away with!  I watch her for a few moments while carefully licking mine so it doesn't topple over.  Chuck turns to me and says"Kat, how come old people (yeah..I needed that! lol) never get food on their mouths?  Is it because they don't like to eat?"
That made me pause for a moment.  She was right and I knew it!  Here is a child at age 4 who made me totally realise how much fun I have been missing by being and "old person".  I decided then and there that I was going to toss away my napkin and eat my ice cream anyway I wanted to!  I dove in, biting & licking with reckless abandon and enjoying every bit of it.  Oh to finally free myself from the restraints of being "an old person".  I had drips on my chin, but I didn't care.  It was fun and freeing.  I took another lick and I lost my ice cream to the pavement.  I was crushed.  Then with all kinds of seriousness, Chuck looks to me and says "Well Kat, there's a life lesson for ya.  Sometimes you are the ice cream, and sometimes you are the cement."
Man was she right! lol
I have had many more ice cream moments than cement moments and I am grateful for that!  I am also extremely grateful for my Chuckster who makes me laugh everytime she is around.
Enjoy life and listen to the younger ones because they can be wise beyond their years.
